Demand Solutions Customer Named PM 100 Winner by Managing Automation

Certified Transmission Rebuilders Exemplifies Operational Excellence in Automation Platforms

ST. LOUIS--()--Demand Solutions, a global resource for supply chain planning solutions, announced today its Advanced Planning and Scheduling customer Certified Transmission Rebuilders is a winner of the seventh annual PM100 Awards. Certified Transmission is one of the largest independent remanufacturers of automotive transmissions in the United States, working across domestic and foreign brands of cars and light trucks to handle 225 different families of transmissions. The company was selected by Manufacturing Enterprise Communications, Inc., producers of the Manufacturing Leadership Summit and publishers of the magazine, Managing Automation.

“After we completed the implementation of Demand Solutions Advanced Planning and Scheduling software in the spring of 2010, Certified Transmission’s stocking levels improved by 30 percent. They automated their scheduling process and freed up resources for other projects. Because their team was committed from the onset, it allowed us to implement quickly. Demand Solutions Supply Chain Planning software is designed to allow customers to quickly and easily reap the benefits of a more efficient supply chain. Certified Transmission accomplished that, and we are honored to have another Demand Solutions customer as a PM100 honoree,” says Bill Harrison, president of Demand Management, Inc.

Certified Transmission Rebuilders was nominated for the award by Demand Solutions in December of last year. An independent judging panel chaired by David R. Brousell, Editor-in-Chief, and Jeff Moad, Executive Editor of Managing Automation, reviewed project nominations and the winners were decided by a panel of qualified judges from various companies and organizations in the manufacturing industry.

Certified Transmission Rebuilders was honored and presented with their award for Operational Excellence in Automation Platforms at the Awards Gala held on the last day of the Manufacturing Leadership Summit 2011, May 9-11, at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL. More than 200 manufacturing technology executives attended.

"We are thrilled to have won such a prestigious award. We use Demand Solutions Advanced Planning & Scheduling software to ensure that we are remanufacturing transmissions as quickly and efficiently as possible to serve our customers,” says Peter Fink, owner and key player during the Advanced Planning and Scheduling implementation.

“As we prepare for the eventual end of the Great Recession, these winning companies dramatically underscore how the manufacturing industry will begin to emerge in an even stronger position once a recovery takes a firm hold,” Brousell says. “The projects that enabled these companies to become PM100 winners reflect great creativity and inventiveness, a determined willingness to take risk, and an enduring resilience to continually improve every aspect of their business. These companies are leading the way to a better future.”

The full listing of the 2011 PM100 winners is available in the May 2011 issue of the Manufacturing Executive Leadership Journal and Managing Automation magazine.
