DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aviva USA, part of Aviva plc, the world's sixth-largest insurance group, has named Joseph W. Wittrock as chief investment officer for the West Des Moines-based company. Wittrock currently serves as head of research for Aviva Investors North America based in Des Moines.
In his new position, Wittrock will lead a new investment group within Aviva USA responsible for managing the risk and investment results of an approximately $50 billion asset portfolio. Wittrock, who currently serves on Aviva USA’s executive committee, will report directly to Aviva USA President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Littlefield. Wittrock will move from Aviva Investors North America to Aviva USA, effective immediately.

Wittrock joined Aviva in 2000, most recently leading Aviva Investor’s fixed income credit research team. Prior to leading credit research, his experience included securities analysis for a broad array of industries and issuers, and management of high-yield fixed income portfolios. Wittrock earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from Buena Vista University, and has a M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago. He holds the chartered financial analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Iowa.
