PURCHASE, N.Y.--()--MasterCard Worldwide announced today that JoAnn Stonier, senior vice president, Global Privacy & Data Officer, has been selected to join the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program’s third class of First Mover Fellows. Stonier joins a class of 20 fellows from leading companies around the world that are focused on developing products and services that drive growth while promoting a sustainable society.

The First Movers Fellowship was developed by the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program, whose mission is to equip business leaders for the 21st century with a new management paradigm—the vision and knowledge to integrate corporate profitability and social value.

Stonier is recognized as a financial privacy expert. At MasterCard she is responsible for worldwide privacy compliance; including identifying, evaluating and managing risks associated with privacy and information management in the development of products and services.

“One of the guiding principles for MasterCard is to be a global technology and information company that adds value to commerce, society and the world,” said Noah Hanft, MasterCard general counsel and chief franchise integrity officer. “From creating opportunities to provide financial inclusion for millions of ‘unbanked’ consumers around the world to providing unmatched information services to help governments, financial institutions and merchants to better manage their operations, MasterCard is changing how we think about global commerce and we’re delighted to see innovators like JoAnn recognized for their efforts.”

The 12-month Fellowship, which includes three seminars, is built around the core themes of innovation, leadership, reflection and community. The program offers individuals a chance to become part of a growing community of innovators who share a passion about their work and belief in new possibilities for business.

“This remarkable and diverse group of innovators shares a commitment and ability to deliver business and social value. They engage both their brains and their hearts in their work,” says Nancy McGaw, director of the First Movers Fellowship Program.

Founded in 1950, the Aspen Institute is an international nonprofit organization that fosters enlightened leadership, the appreciation of timeless values and ideas, and open-minded dialogue on contemporary issues.
