ATLANTA--()--Logility Inc., a leading supplier of collaborative solutions to optimize the supply chain, today announced the recipients of the Logility Leadership Award. This year American Italian Pasta Company, Continental Mills, Griffith Laboratories Worldwide, Inc., and Huhtamaki were recognized at Logility’s “Connections 2011: Navigate Your Voyage to Supply Chain Excellence” conference.

Logility’s annual award program recognizes a select group of companies who significantly improved their business processes, deployed an innovative solution for their supply chain challenges, or demonstrated an on-going commitment and leadership role in the expansion of supply chain improvements. Each of this year’s award recipients demonstrated success in building collaboration, efficiency and visibility within their supply chains which resulted in tangible business benefits including inventory reduction, a streamlined sales and operations planning (S&OP) process, increased forecast accuracy, improved manufacturing planning, reduced transportation costs, and higher customer service levels.

Examples of the winners’ improvements in operational performance include:

  • American Italian Pasta Company (AIPC) is the largest producer of dry pasta in North America serving direct to consumer through brands such as Mueller’s, Golden Grain and Anthony’s, as well as the private label and food service industries. The company was recognized for its use of Logility Voyager Solutions to help drive significant improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory turns and obsolescence. AIPC also developed and refined its S&OP organization around Voyager Solutions. Following implementation of Logility Voyager Solutions, American Italian Pasta Company increased customer service to 98.8%, reduced inventory 50%, decreased obsolete and aged inventory from 18% to just 2% of total inventory, and improved forecast accuracy 50%.
  • Continental Mills, a producer of dry bakery mix products that includes Krusteaz and Alpine as well as premium licensed brands including Ghirardelli, Brown & Haley and Snoqualmie Falls, deployed Logility Voyager Solutions to consistently measure and manage production strategy across its network of manufacturing locations, boost visibility, synchronize changes between demand and manufacturing plans, and drive efficiencies throughout its manufacturing and scheduling processes. Continental Mills improved inventory turns 20%, reduced forecast error in one division by nearly 50% and achieved a record service level of 99.6%.
  • Griffith Laboratories Worldwide, Inc. is a global manufacturer of food ingredient systems that include dry seasoning blends, bakery mixes, coating systems, and ready to use liquid offerings, serving a variety of categories within the food industry. The company has turned to Logility Voyager Solutions to enable a more collaborative environment and drive an improved S&OP process. Griffith Laboratories leveraged Voyager Solutions to streamline S&OP across multiple groups including finance, planning and manufacturing. The company has been able to decrease working capital, as well as material obsolescence. Griffith also utilizes Voyager Solutions to drive raw material manufacturing requirements planning (MRP) allowing for a more dynamic and accurate ability to reorder materials.
  • Huhtamaki, a specialty packaging manufacturer with category leading foodservice and consumer packaging including the retail line Chinet, relies on Logility Voyager Solutions to manage its complex supply chain of multiple brands across multiple vertical industries each with its distinct processes and requirements. Voyager Solutions helps the company streamline supply chain operations to drive more accurate forecasts at the item / location level. In just the first few months, the solution has become a pivotal component of the Huhtamaki S&OP process and has helped close the gaps in the flow of information between operations and forecasting teams.
