Yamaha Elevates HR Team as Strategic Resource.

WESTON, Fla.--()--Ultimate Software (NASDAQ:ULTI), a leading provider of unified human capital management SaaS solutions for global businesses, announced today that, after activating UltiPro in January 2010, Yamaha Corporation of America has streamlined the company’s comprehensive HR operations as well as elevated HR’s role to valued strategic business partner.

Offering a full line of musical instruments and audio/visual products to the U.S. market, Yamaha Corporation of America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation, Japan, and is one of the largest of all global subsidiary companies. The company promotes its products to dealers and works with concert organizers and musicians who use their products.

Prior to UltiPro, Yamaha had been using a payroll service bureau with limited talent and benefits management capabilities. Seeking a unified HCM solution with end-to-end HR functionality that would allow for a more holistic analysis of workforce trends, Yamaha chose UltiPro, and the HR team has been extremely pleased with its decision.

“Our previous system looked like an integrated solution but it wasn’t, whereas UltiPro is really one solution,” said Tracy Bargielski, general manager of human resources for Yamaha Corporation of America. “UltiPro is easy to use and helps us manage the entire employee life cycle, and we can report on almost anything we need. Plus, Ultimate Software has the customer service to back up UltiPro, so the selection of UltiPro was truly a no-brainer.”

Yamaha was also impressed with UltiPro’s quick activation. “Our deployment of UltiPro was unbelievable,” said Bargielski. “The Ultimate team made sure we understood everything that was happening, provided 24-7 availability, offered solutions for best practices, and even recommended ways to save money. Our payroll manager, who has been with us for more than 20 years, was unsure about the transition, and even she couldn’t believe how simple the deployment was.”

As Bargielski evaluated a range of HCM systems, one of the key differentiators that set UltiPro apart was its easy-to-use, intuitive interface, which has encouraged companywide adoption of the new solution.

“We don’t have to be systems-savvy to use UltiPro, whether the end-user is an HR associate, manager, or employee. Even setting up the solution was very straightforward. Compared to the service bureau, UltiPro’s usability and flexibility are like night and day.”

After rolling out UltiPro, Yamaha immediately saw significant benefits and increased efficiency — including improved accuracy with reporting and substantial time saved across the HR department. The HR team is now focusing its energy on new value-added projects that contribute to Yamaha’s core business. For example, because of the time savings with UltiPro, Bargielski’s team is collaborating with the company’s dealerships to help these locations more effectively recruit, motivate, and retain employees.

“To help us grow our business, we wanted to offer services to our dealers that set Yamaha apart from others in our industry. HR can now contribute to the company’s competitive position and support our revenue generators,” said Bargielski. “UltiPro has helped us align our processes with the strategic goals of the company. If UltiPro hadn’t provided us with so many ways to save time, we wouldn’t have been able to deliver the added value to our business.”

Bargielski believes UltiPro has elevated HR’s position in the organization and made her a more valued business partner with a seat at the executive table. “Using UltiPro has helped improve HR’s reputation. Employees and managers see us more as a partner and a resource, as opposed to just a processing center,” said Bargielski. “Our management team can see how powerful the information that we now have is and how we can use it to help them make better business decisions. And we’ve been able to prove it, rather than just saying it. Our executive team’s response to UltiPro has been very positive.”

“One of the biggest areas of impact with a unified solution like UltiPro is the ability to have cohesive business intelligence across all areas of human capital management,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software. “We consistently hear stories from our customers of dramatically improved business results such as Yamaha is experiencing with UltiPro — and these stories reaffirm our strategic commitment to focus exclusively on HCM.”
